Welcome
At Initiative for Community Development, we are dedicated to transforming the lives of vulnerable internally displaced persons, striving to reduce hunger and poverty in the communities we serve. We support children to continue learning, women to rebuild their livelihoods and the provision of psychosocial support to victims of gender-based violence.
Our mission
Our mission is to achieve economic resilience for vulnerable displaced individuals by addressing the root causes of poverty. Through community-driven programs, we focus on education, livelihoods recovery and GBV support with emphasis on women and youth.
Our vision
We envision a world where vulnerable displaced people experience less suffering and regain hope through restored livelihoods, education, and protection. Our goal is to create a positive and sustainable impact, fostering resilient communities that can overcome hunger, socio-economic challenges, and gender-based violence.
Our Programs

EDUCATION
Our Education Program focuses on giving children a new chance at learning, providing essential learning materials and support. Our initiative includes the distribution of school supplies, textbooks, and cash-based assistance, helping families cover costs associated with education.

LIVELIHOODS
Our Livelihoods Program focuses on helping displaced families rebuild their livelihoods through sustainable initiatives, including: agricultural training and inputs to restore food security and promote climate-smart farming practices; small business support with grants and coaching for entrepreneurship and employment assistance through vocational skills development.

GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE
Our GBV Program offers psychosocial support and protection to women and girls, ensuring they have the tools to heal and rebuild their lives. We offer safe spaces for survivors to receive counseling and support; economic empowerment initiatives to reduce dependence and vulnerability and awareness campaigns to educate communities on GBV prevention and women’s rights.
